"Elizabeth Enright has a quick eye for the unexpected, the amusing and the beautiful in what might be just ordinary experiences." - New York Times

"Welcome Back! Elizabeth Enright's Melendy Quartet follows siblings Mona, Rush, Randy and Oliver. First published in 1941, The Saturdays kicks off the series and centers on the foursome's Independent Saturday Afternoon Adventure Club (I.S.A.A.C.)." - Publishers Weekly

The four Melendy children live with their father and Cuffy, their beloved housekeeper, in a worn but comfortable brownstone in New York City. There's thirteen-year-old Mona, who has decided to become an actress; twelve-year-old mischievous Rush; ten-year-old Randy who loves to dance and paint; and thoughtful Oliver, who is just six-years-old.

Tired of wasting Saturdays doing nothing but wishing for larger allowances, the four Melendys jump at Randy's idea to start the Independent Saturday Afternoon Adventure Club (I.S.A.A.C.). If they pool their resources and take turns spending the whole amount, they can each have at least one memorable Saturday afternoon of their own. Before long, I.S.A.A.C. is in operation and every Saturday is definitely one to remember.

Written more than a half century ago, The Saturdays unfolds with all the ripe details of a specific place and period but remains a winning, timeless tale.

Elizabeth Enright (1909-1968) was born in Oak Park, IL, but spent most of her life in or around New York City. Throughout her life she wrote and illustrated numerous award-winning children's books, including a 1958 Newbery Honor for Gone-Away Lake. Ms. Enright's writings have been loved by many for generations, and they continue to find an audience with young and old alike.

Pamela Dillman has recorded a wide variety of audiobook titles, both in the United States and in Great Britain. Her extensive film, television and theater credits include over 300 productions on three continents.

Have you always loved reading but sometimes find it hard to find the time? Theres nothing quite like curling up with a good book but many of us cannot do that as much as we would llike. We sacrifice this special time because we have so many other things to do each day. It is a common problem and it is the reason why people on average are not reading as much as they once did. Audio books bring the story to life just as the storytellers of the past did. They allow you to experience the book in a whole new way; in the way the writer felt and heard it in their head. You can feel the emotion when you allow audio books to let the story come to life.
