L. M. Boston's thrilling and chilling tales of Green Knowe, a haunted manor deep in an overgrown garden in the English countryside, have been entertaining readers for half a century.
This is the sixth book in this classic series. While eagerly following each stage of the new stone manor house his father is building to replace their old wooden Saxon hall, a young boy, part Saxon and part Norman, becomes involved with ancient magic that carries him through time.
Roger, the son of a Norman lord, is the very first child to live in the house that much later becomes known as Green Knowe. One day while wandering the hills near the great house, Roger comes upon two ancient stones, shaped like chairs, hidden under some brush. He calls them King and Queen. Even more mysterious than their presence is what happens when Roger sits on the stones. The King Stone brings him forward in time, and the Queen Stone sends him back!
Roger uses this magic to reveal the fate of his beloved home, which he wishes would stay as it is forever. The Green Knowe he visits in the future is startlingly different, but the children who live there—Toby, Linnet, Susan and Tolly—all welcome him warmly. Roger teaches these children, who live centuries apart from one another, to use the stones so they can all gather together at once and experience marvelous time-traveling adventures as he does.
AUTHOR
Lucy Maria Boston (1892-1990) purchased a ramshackle manor house near Cambridge, England, in 1935, which over a period of two years she lovingly restored. It is the house that inspired her, at the age of sixty-two, to take pen in hand and create the beloved Green Knowe chronicles. L.M. Boston said she wrote her books to please herself—but the pleasure of her stories extends to all who read them.

Have you always loved reading but sometimes find it hard to find the time? Theres nothing quite like curling up with a good book but many of us cannot do that as much as we would llike. We sacrifice this special time because we have so many other things to do each day. It is a common problem and it is the reason why people on average are not reading as much as they once did.
Audio books bring the story to life just as the storytellers of the past did. They allow you to experience the book in a whole new way; in the way the writer felt and heard it in their head. You can feel the emotion when you allow audio books to let the story come to life.
