Jack Reacher.
The ultimate loner.
An elite ex-military cop who left the service years ago, he's moved from place to place...without family ... without possessions... without commitments.
And without fear. Which is good, because trouble -big, violent, complicated trouble - finds Reacher wherever he goes. And when trouble finds him, Reacher does not quit, not once...not ever.
But some unfinished business has now found Reacher. And Reacher is a man who hates unfinished business.
Ten years ago, a key investigation went sour and someone got away with murder.
Now a chance encounter brings it all back. Now Reacher sees his one last shot. Some would call it vengeance. Some would call it redemption.
Reacher would call it...justice.
This Lee Child audio book featuring the ex military cop, ultimate loner and very dangerous Jack Reacher starts off with a violent shoot out as Reacher rescues a young man from a kidnap attempt outside his college in a sleepy Massachusetts town. The rescue is successful and Reacher races away from danger and delivers the young man safely to his home on the coast of Maine. The last line of the first chapter pulls the rug out from under the reader and you can't wait to turn the page.
All is not as it seems as Reacher has already agreed to help out a female federal special agent who has chosen Reacher as the man who can help her progress with a danderous investigation. Reacher has a special interest in another aspect of the same investigation which is why he has agreed to help.
The audio book centers on the young mans family, The Becks, heavily guarded in the coast near Portland, Maine. The father is suspected by the Feds as being a major drugs dealer who has connections to an ex army officer who killed Reacher's lady 10 years earlier in an act of vengeance. Reacher believed he had killed this man already in retribution for his lady's death but a chance encounter in Boston changes his belief and starts the chain of events that results in his agreement to help the special agent.
Reacher is employed by the father which gives him the opportunity to poke around the Beck's estate to try and locate another female missing Federal agent. Reacher disposes of the in house bad guys in true Reacher fashion before they can do the same to him as they suspect he is not who he seems. The book moves towards it's violent finale as Reacher seeks retribution for the second time on the man who killed his lady friend all those years ago and the reader will not be disappointed with Reacher's non stop action and Child's nicely crafted story line. The book is nicely narrated by Dick Hill and will keep you enthralled from start to finish.
