The year is 1942, and Eleanor Roosevelt is convinced that there is an
imposter in the White House masquerading as Fala, FDRs prized Scottie. Positive
that a shady veterinarian has absconded with the genuine pooch, Eleanor turns for
help to that much-battered and near penniless private eye: Toby Peters.

detective gamely agrees to search for the pilfered canine. What follows is a

named Henry the Eighth; a right-wing fanatic whos plotting to overthrow the
FDR administration; a bookie with a powerful passion for the Academy Awards;
and Buster Keatonon his way down, but, as he proves, not yet out
for the count.

Stuart Kaminsky received the 1990 Edgar Allan Poe Award for best mystery novel, as well as France's Grand Prix de Roman d'Aventures in 1991. His love of the movies and long career as a professor of film history led him to create the popular and critically acclaimed Toby Peters series. He lives in Florida with his wife and children.
